THE FOOD SYSTEM KEEPS NO RECEIPTS. YOUR BODY DOES.
The Poo Report tracks the outbreaks. The recalls. The oversight, or lack thereof. Nobody else was going to.

📧 THE DAILY DUMP: this week's recalls, in plain English.Plus the oversight failures nobody else flags. Five minutes, Mon/Wed/Fri, free. The name is a promise.
🔴 CODE BROWN
A note on this coverage. Outbreaks happen every year. So do recalls, most of them small, most you never hear about. It's rare for one to get this big. Fifteen states, two deaths, the largest cyclospora outbreak on record, that's not the normal outcome. Regulation's the reason it isn't normal more often. This time it got through anyway. We're scaling back daily dedicated coverage as Michigan's own numbers decline. We're not calling it over. Watch the threat level above and the map below for anything that changes.

🔍 THE POO INDEX who makes it, what they call it
Search a producer or a brand name to see who's actually behind it. Every result is tagged
so you know where the information came from:
⚠️ RECALL-DISCLOSED: the brand list came from an FDA or USDA
recall notice, not something the company chose to publish.
📋 CORPORATE STRUCTURE: the brand list is the company's own
reported portfolio, from their site or SEC filings.
This is the early version of the Poo Index. Full safety-and-compliance scoring is coming later.
⚠️ A producer's absence here is not a clean bill. It means we haven't sourced their
portfolio or a recall hasn't disclosed it, not that nothing's wrong.
🌱 UPSTREAM where it came from · who decided how
The rest of this site is downstream: what came out of you, after the fact. This is the other end: the supply chain, the money, and the rules. Every item here carries a document. We go after the policy and the incentive, not people's motives. Nobody set out to poison anyone, they set out to spend less on not poisoning you, and the difference lands in your gut.
Loading upstream…
We aim at systems and published positions, never at a named company's intent. At least one item here always argues against us; a section that only ever finds evidence for its own thesis is the thing this site exists to call out.
🔇 THE QUIET regulations moving while nobody's watching
Outbreaks get headlines. Rulemaking doesn't. This is where we track the comment periods, filings, and quietly proposed changes that decide what gets caught next time, while everyone's attention is on this time.
Loading the quiet…
Every item here carries a document: a filed disclosure, a Federal Register entry, a comment-period deadline. We name the filing, never the motive.
📊 THE NATIONAL PICTURE every state, counted the same way
⚠️ WHY THIS MAP SHOWS A SMALLER NUMBER THAN YOUR STATE DOES
Both numbers are true. They count different things.
Your state counts everyone who looks like a case, confirmed or probable, and updates it daily.
This map uses the federal count, which only includes cases that finished lab confirmation and
made it through the national reporting pipeline. That takes weeks.
The gap is not a cover-up. It is a queue.
So the federal number runs lower and older than what your state says. We use it here for one
reason: it is the only count all 50 states file the same way, which is what makes comparing them
fair. Never subtract one from the other. The difference is not missing people. It is
paperwork still in transit.

THE SOURCE
CDC NNDSS weekly data. Lab-confirmed cases, counted the same way in every state, which is what
makes the shading comparable.
PALE STATES FILED NOTHING.
Blank is not zero. It means no report reached CDC for this pathogen this week.
Alaska, Hawaii and New York City are counted by CDC but are not on this map file.

The two left figures come from the same CDC page, split by whether a lab has finished; the
middle number is a queue, not doubt.
Michigan's own figure runs ahead of the federal pipeline and counts probable cases too.
We print all three, label all three, never add or divide one into another.
Separately, FDA has 0 open foodborne outbreak investigations right now, all pathogens.

A recall list you'll actually read, plus the reason it exists. Five minutes, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Every issue: what got pulled, who got caught, and one longer story. Free, and we've never sold a word of it.
A RECENT LEADWe've been on the lettuce since July. It's now the worst of the year. We picked up the Cyclospora recall when it happened, led an issue with it on August 5, and kept checking after everyone else filed. It has since become the largest foodborne outbreak of 2026.
No spam. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and nothing in between. Your email stays private. We run an anonymous poop website. Discretion is the entire business model.
🧾 The Pull List. What got recalled, in one line each, dated. We check FDA and USDA by hand, because one of them blocks robots.
⚖️ The Ledger. Who got caught. Warning letters, import alerts, the ones that went to court.
📢 The Screamer. One documented fact about your food, up top, stated flat. No punchline.
📰 The Feature, and it rotates. Mondays the Morgue Files, an outbreak from history told with zero respect for the dead. Wednesdays the Science Desk, one real study read so you don't have to. Fridays Believe It or Rot, true weird news you'll have to Google because you won't believe us.
🥬 The Good Rot. What's worth eating right now, and somebody in food who did the right thing. The part that isn't grim.
🚽 Overheard on the Throne. The exit laugh. Reader jokes; make the cut, we print your handle, never your name.
Plus the Editorial Page, and on Fridays The Kit: the tools that actually catch this stuff in your own kitchen.

Be thorough. Reach back further than you'd think. Most foodborne bugs surface within a few days, but some (like the cyclospora going around) can take up to ~2 weeks to appear, so list everything you can remember from the last week or two. The source is whatever turns up across the most reports; leaving something out helps no one. Not medical advice. If you're seriously ill, see a clinician.
